Things Craig Didn't Like Me Posting On His List (#6)

Posted in , , , , , , , , , , ,

With unemployment rates up, I thought I'd offer some "bored games" for people sitting at home doing nothing. I posted these in San Fran, Portland, Topeka, Vegas, and Minneapolis. I got a couple replies from San Fran (always good to me), but the response was definitely best this time in Portland & Topeka. Congrats Portland & Topeka, you're the coolest city winners this time!

I ran into a few road blocks when trying to post in a few other cities, apparently some cities are requiring you to have a Craigs List membership just to post things. Well Ladi-Da Philly, New York, Atlanta, Boston and Rhode Island. No fun for you.

Here are a few responses I received:

Then I received a few responses from people who I think thought these were real games, either that or they were just screwing back with me:

This one I received from Topeka Kansas was my favorite of them, because they had emailed me this afternoon and when I didn't get back they emailed me again this evening seeing if they could pick the games up. They even left their cell # incase I had trouble reaching them.

So I had to email them back, still waiting to see if they'll respond to my email. I wish I had a way of taping a phone conversation if I called them.

Gotta love those GOOD TOPEKA PEOPLE!

So it was suggested that my last junk mail posting be converted to a Craigs List posting. So here we go, here is my latest Craigs List post. Coupon edition!

For this listing I tried posting it in new areas I hadn't tried yet: Dakota, Louisiana, Virginia, West Virginia, and Mississippi.

My hopes were that by listing in these smaller places that the posts would might stay up longer and in turn receive more comments...and they did stay up for a long time in these places, but they also received no responses (positive/negative).

My best guess is that these places probably don't use C.L. very much. I know most of my friends living in Connecticut didn't even know what C.L was, while everyone I know in NYC, San Fran, Boston & LA couldn't live without Mr. Craig and his list. I'm still trying to get some sort of response in these cities and as I do I'll add them to this post.

Give a squirrel a nut :)

Another day, another Craigs List rejection.

Posted in the "Free Stuff" section of Craigs List:

Posted in the "Lost & Found" section of Craigs List:

These two posts went up in the "Free Stuff" and "Lost & Found" sections of C.L. in the cities of: Austin (TX), San Francisco (CA), Brooklyn (NY), Atlanta (GA), Boston (MA), and Richmond (VA).

By the way Virginia, it's 2008 and you might want to update some of your racist city names!

Back by popular demand, here is yet another of my Craigs List postings. As you know, these postings are usually flagged and instantaneously removed before anyone can comment on them, and if anyone does happen to sneak a comment in it’s usually a very irritated response expressing utter discontent that someone dare take light of the Über serious forum known as Craigs List “Free Stuff”.

This time I actually had something REAL to give away, a lock of hair which I was pushing as an instant mustache. So I decided to cast my net out to some different C.L. cities across America to test which had the best sense of humor and which were the crabbiest. Here is the list of cities below and the results:

NY (Brooklyn & Manhattan), Illinois (Chicago), Texas (Austin), California (LA & San Francisco)

NY, Chicago, and LA were the cities to flag and remove the post quickest and also the ones contributing the most negative comments.

While Austin Texas and San Francisco CA supplied the most and funniest responses. The post was eventually flagged and removed in Austin, but to my amazement this posting STILL remains active (at the time of this posting) in the Haight Ashbury section of San Francisco. Proving that the coolest people in my sample currently live in San Fran.

So on to the actual posting and the great responses to it.
Some of these had me rolling. (click the postings to enlarge)

BTW: "Jade" from San Francisco is the lucky recipient of the stash. I'll be sending it out to him this week and he also volunteered to take pics wearing the stash, so stay tuned for follow-up pics of the glorious stash in action!

So I put another Craigs List post up last night and this time my posting only lasted a whole nine minutes before being flagged and removed. I guess nobody wants free stool these days.

When did people start losing their sense of humor?
On several occasions I've put this posting on the "Free Stuff" section of CraigsList.com...

...and each time I put it up, it gets flagged and removed immediately.
Followed by hateful emails like this one...

Do people only like humor when it doesn't interfere with their daily routine of getting free shit on Craigs LIst?
Is it so bad to try injecting a little fun into our everyday boring lives? Stop taking life so seriously people and have a little fun!
Now go out there and kick someone in the nuts...that's always funny!!!
